Kamzang Journeys
Flexible Deposit & Trip Payment Policy
(Covid-19)

Namaste!
These are challenging times for all of us around the world, and we understand that travelers’ plans will become disrupted over the next few months because of the Covid-19 epidemic.

FLEXIBLE DEPOSITS
Kamzang Journeys is reevaluating our spring treks daily, and are offering our valued Kamzang Journeys clients the chance to roll over their deposits to another trek anytime in 2020. If you decide to cancel your trip within 60 days of the trip, or not to join us for another trip in 2020, we would suggest donating your deposit to The Kamzang Fund. We will send you an invoice stating that you have made a tax-deductible donation to The Kamzang Fund. The Kamzang Fund isn’t a 4013C registered non-profit but you can submit this invoice with your upcoming taxes; and 100% of all donations go directly to the Kamzang Fund, with 0% operational or other fees!

As Kamzang Journeys is a (very) small company owned and operated by me (Kim Bannister), it will be a serious challenge this year to pay the salaries and medical expenses of our Kamzang Journeys staff, as well as the school fees and medical expenses of our Kamzang Kids. I take full responsibility for making sure that my staff is financially cared for this year, regardless of the financial impact on the company.

ROLL OVER BALANCE PAYMENTS
Kamzang Journeys will roll-over balance payments to any of our set-departure or private trips until the end of 2021, giving you plenty of time to wait out the worldwide spread of coronavirus and look through some of our amazing treks, cycling trips or boutique tours later this year, or until the end of 2021. Feel free to discuss options with me as I am always extremely flexible, and value our friends, Kamzang family and travelers over a bit of extra cash!

GLOBAL RESCUE
Global Rescue will operate its rescue flights from the mountains to Kathmandu (and onward) if you are sick, although evacuation because of the coronavirus isn’t covered. I spoke with Global Rescue extensively, and they assured me that as there is obviously no test available for the virus while on trek, the rescue would be covered (as long as its pre-approved) under their general policy. This is good news!

Let’s ‘Namaste’ instead of hugging, kissing and shaking hands until this epidemic pases by. Don’t panic (80% of people infected don’t need special treatment) but do be smart and prepared, and think ethically as well as practically!
